People from across the New Forest told us that:
· They would like more information in schools out about opportunities and services (childcare, health etc) in your area.
What are we doing? A folder was developed for each school and we have developed this website to make this information easily available to the whole community 24 hours a day.
· There needed to be more local courses for parents who want to learn more about understanding their child and helping them at school.
What are we doing? Put on a series of courses in schools across the New Forest. More courses are planned, contact your local school or extended services co-ordinator for more details.
· Some parents wanted more childcare - breakfast, after school and holiday clubs.
What are we doing? Where there is sufficient demand schools are offering this, if they cannot run this at your school have a look in the information folder to find out about alternatives, or visit the childcare section of our website If you don't find what you are looking for let us know, we will do our best to help - contact details
· Children wanted more activities.
What are we doing? Schools are working hard to offer a range of clubs and activities to suit the demand from their pupils, let your school know if you have any ideas or could help to run a club. We have also teamed up with partners to run special activities and events for children and families to help keep up children's interest and enjoyment.
· Moving up from infants to juniors and juniors to secondary school can be a difficult time.
What are we doing? We ran an events to give parents more information about the move from primary to secondary school, this was not very well attended but we plan to try this again at a different time of year. We also ran projects in several schools to see how we could improve. The lessons learned will be share with all the schools in our area.
· We all have problems from time to time - in some families this can mean that the child is also having problems at school.
What are we doing? Some schools already have trained link workers who work with children and parents to tackle a wide range of concerns, or let them know where to get more help. Working in this all round way can help to sort out why a child is having difficulty at school. We are planning to train workers in more local schools over the coming year.
